Thakadu Bush Camp
We are a small, family-run lodge that takes great pride in our warm welcome, friendly service and peaceful surroundings. Thakadu provides a true bush experience with all the rustic authenticity we can muster.
Opened in 1999 by Chris and Jeanette Woolcott, Thakadu has built a strong reputation as a great place to stop over for a comfortable sleep and delicious food. Now with the help of the next generation, the camp is continuing to grow whilst maintaining the original vision.
Accommodation
DOUBLE & FAMILY ROOMS
- These elevated rooms are large, they have generous balconies which overlook untouched Kalahari bushveld. The rooms are en-suite, air conditioned and a Family Room with an adjoining door is available.
THATCHED CHALETS
- The chalets are elevated with balconies overlooking game rich veld, within short walking distance of the restaurant and bar. Vehicles may be parked directly outside the chalets which are double bedded with extra beds provided if necessary for kids. They are air conditioned and safes are provided.
EN-SUITE MERU TENTS
- The luxurious raised meru tents provide wonderful rustic comfort. They have electricity and abundant hot water for dusty travellers. Cars can be parked close by and the merus are a short walk from the bar and restaurant. They are twin bedded and up to one extra bed can be added for kids.
COTTAGE CHALETS
- Fully bedded, pre-erected, safari-style tents. These provide comfortable budget accommodation. All are equipped with electric lights and utilise the campsite ablutions.
CAMPSITES
- Campsites are all situated under shady Leadwood trees with an electric light, power points, drinking water and braai stands. All sites are within a short distance of our two ablution blocks. Firewood is also available
