Harnas Wildlife Foundation
Located 307 km East of Windhoek & about 120 km north-east of Gobabis, Harnas Wildlife Foundation is an entity established originally for the protection of animals, but has since grown to include welfare projects and nature conservation projects. The van der Merwe family has been farming in the Gobabis district in Namibia for three generations. The farm is situated next to the communal farming Herero land and between other commercial farms.
This is the dream of Harnas and we live this dream every day! Harnas Wildlife Foundation was initiated some 30 odd years ago by acquiring a single vervet monkey that was abused and an alcoholic. This Monkey was time rehabilitated and eventually released in the wild.
Today Harnas is home to a host of animals including lions, leopards, cheetahs and wild dogs. The legend continues… Harnas also boast of excellent accommodation, breath taking activities and wholesome cuisine. Our activities include feeding tours, nature drives, birdwatching, and exciting animal interactions. The guests are treated to an unforgettable experience while being pampered with all the comfort of home.
