Fort Sesfontein Lodge

The Lodge Fort Sesfontein – located in a wild civilization remote area – nevertheless offers the comfort that guests can expect today. They experience luxury with a historical background. The courtyard of the complex is covered with palm trees and has a spacious pool. Lodge, bar and restaurant are integrated into the former wardroom. 

In 1896, the government of the then German Southwest Africa built Fort Sesfontein (six springs) as a checkpoint against rinderpest, poaching on big game and arms smuggling. 
In 1914, the fort was abandoned, and only ruins and a small German military cemetery testify to the presence of the security forces in Sesfontein.

Today, more than 100 years after the founding of the Sesfontein station, the fort, after a tasteful restoration, is undergoing a new use as a comfortable lodge for individual tourism. The use of traditional building methods such as mud building, natural stone floors and wooden ceilings provide a special atmosphere of originality. Today’s comfort requirements were met in the design of the bathrooms, the hot water treatment via solar panels, the equipment of the four-poster bed with mosquito net and the installation of a ceiling fan. In addition, all rooms are equipped with powerful air conditioning.
